How Did Assam Rifles Honor Nine Newly Commissioned Officers from Manipur?

Imphal, June 25 (NationPress) In a remarkable event that showcases the significant contributions of Manipur to the Indian Armed Forces, the Assam Rifles on Wednesday honored nine officers who have recently been commissioned into the Indian Army, Indian Air Force (IAF), and Assam Rifles, as reported by officials.

A spokesperson from the Defence sector stated that the felicitation ceremony, held at Mantripukhri Garrison by Assam Rifles (South), celebrated the remarkable achievements of these young individuals, who have brought pride to their families and the state by being inducted into the nation’s esteemed defense forces.

The Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) attended the event, engaging with the officers and their families.

During his address, the Inspector General commended the officers for their unwavering dedication and perseverance. He also acknowledged and honored the parents for their sacrifices and trust, which played a crucial role in shaping the impressive journeys of these officers.

All commissioned officers of the Indian Army received their commissions on June 14 from the Indian Military Academy.

In his speech, the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) encouraged the young achievers to give their utmost effort as they embark on their careers in the Armed Forces. He emphasized that the success of these newly commissioned officers will motivate future generations to pursue excellence and continue the legacy of Manipur as the largest contributor of officers to the Indian Armed Forces among the North Eastern States.

Among them, four officers have been commissioned into the Gorkha Rifles, two into the Regiment of Artillery, one into the Grenadiers, and one from Manipur into the Assam Rifles.

Notable officers include Lt A Naoten Meitei, an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal, who later joined the National Defence Academy (NDA). His father, Athokpam Ingocha Singh, works as a farmer, and his mother, A O Loidang Devi, is a homemaker. Lt Naoba Meitei, also an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal, has a father serving in the Manipur Police and a mother who is a homemaker. Lieutenant Ronendro Angam, another alumnus of Sainik School Imphal, hails from Phayeng, Imphal. His father, Angom Shanti Kumar Singh, is a pharmacist, and his mother is a homemaker. Lt G Ambrose Panmei from the Noney District has parents, Panjiklung Panmei and Kanangailiu Panmei, who are both farmers. These four officers were commissioned into the Gorkha Rifles.

Lieutenant M Denish Singh, who comes from Kakching, is commissioned into the Grenadiers. His father is a shopkeeper, while his mother is a homemaker. He is also an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal and the NDA.

Lieutenant Meghnath Soibam, a resident of Thoubal District, has a father, Soibam Ibomcha Singh, who is a businessman, and a mother, Soibam Lakshmi Salam, who is a primary school teacher. He, too, is an alumnus of Sainik School Imphal and has been commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery.

Lieutenant Thokchom Siddharth Singh from Bishnupur has also been commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery. His mother is a homemaker, and his sister is a teacher. He completed his education up to class 12 at Sainik School Imphal before joining the NDA.

Flying Officer Mayanglambam Lucky Singh received his commission in the Indian Air Force from the Air Force Academy, Dundigal, on June 14. His father, M. Kiran Singh, works as an autorickshaw driver, and his mother, M. Kiranbala Devi, is a homemaker.

One particularly inspiring story is that of Assistant Commandant Hingba Graceson R, who began his journey as a recruit in the Assam Rifles back in 2005. After two decades of relentless service and dedication, he has now been commissioned as an officer in the Assam Rifles. His late father Rang was a farmer, and his mother, Shaka, is a homemaker.
