Atishi Claims Centre is Evicting Her from Chief Minister’s Residence; BJP Denies Allegations

New Delhi, Jan 7 (NationPress) Delhi's Chief Minister Atishi announced on Tuesday that the Public Works Department (PWD) has revoked the allotment of her official residence for the second time within three months, which she claims is part of a conspiracy. She emphasized that this situation will not deter her spirit; instead, she is committed to working with renewed vigor for the citizens of the city.
Atishi’s surprising revelations regarding her current residence, located at 6 Flag Staff Road (the CM residence), come just after the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the polling dates for Delhi on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was swift to contest Chief Minister Atishi’s allegations about the cancellation of her official residence allotment.
BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya claimed that it was Atishi who declined to take possession of the 'Sheesh Mahal' to avoid upsetting her superior.
“Delhi CM Atishi is not telling the truth. She was granted the Sheesh Mahal on October 11, 2024, but has not moved in because she does not want to upset Arvind Kejriwal. Consequently, the allotment was rescinded, and two additional bungalows have been presented to her,” he posted on X.
Previously, during a press briefing, Atishi accused the BJP-led Centre of plotting to remove her from the official CM residence, stating, “If necessary, I will reside in the people’s house and continue my work from there.”
“Regardless of the circumstances, the city’s development must continue, and welfare initiatives such as Sanjeevani and Samman Yojana will persist in benefiting the populace,” she added.
She also alleged that previously, her belongings had been removed from her residence.
“They have sent me an eviction notice from the CM's residence. This marks the second attempt to dislodge me in three months,” she asserted.
Amit Malviya countered her claims, stating that two bungalows have already been offered to her: Bungalow No 2 at 8 Raj Niwas Lane, Civil Lines, and Bungalow No 115, Ansari Road, Daryaganj.
“She should select a residence and cease her falsehoods,” he added.
Further clarifying the situation regarding the 'Sheesh Mahal', Malviya mentioned that the palace funded by taxpayers was extended to her on the condition that she cooperate with investigative agencies as it is currently under the watch of the CBI/ED for alleged misuse of public funds.
