Manoj Tiwari Accuses Delhi CM Atishi of Distracting from Core Issues Amid Bungalow Controversy

New Delhi, January 7 (NationPress) - Following allegations from Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Tuesday regarding the BJP-led Central government’s cancellation of her official residence allotment, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari criticized her for what he perceives as an evasion of responsibility concerning Delhi's significant challenges, while she fixates on her residential situation, particularly the contentious 'Sheesh Mahal.'
In an interview with IANS, Tiwari remarked: "Atishi has been allocated the residence but has not moved in for over a month, as it must be surrendered to the government for ten days before vacating. This delay stems from her reluctance to leave. The Public Works Department (PWD) may have withdrawn her allotment due to her refusal to vacate. If she is able to legally claim the residence, she will; otherwise, she will not."
Tiwari further contended that Atishi’s emphasis on the residential allotment serves as a political smokescreen.
He expressed his disapproval of her and AAP Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh, claiming they are diverting attention from the more urgent matters facing Delhi.
"The Sheesh Mahal issue is merely another act to distract the public. Why has this information been concealed for months, only to surface now?" Tiwari challenged, accusing the AAP of staging a political performance to shift focus from other pressing issues in the city.
On Tuesday, Sanjay Singh issued a public challenge to BJP leaders, stating: "BJP representatives should visit the Delhi CM House with the media on Wednesday at 11 a.m. to point out the alleged golden toilet and swimming pool!"
Earlier that day, Atishi held a press conference, where she charged the BJP-led Centre with plotting her eviction from the official CM residence.
"Should it become necessary, I will reside in the people's house and continue my work from there. The development of the city will not halt, and welfare initiatives like Sanjeevani and Samman Yojana will persist in benefiting the populace," she asserted. Atishi additionally claimed that her belongings had previously been removed from the residence, marking this as the second eviction attempt in the last three months.
However, the BJP quickly refuted Atishi’s allegations. BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya countered her statements, claiming that the CM was offered the "Sheesh Mahal" residence in October 2024 but had not yet moved in. Malviya stated, "Atishi declined to occupy the house to avoid displeasing her party leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Consequently, the allotment was rescinded, and two alternative bungalows have been provided to her," as he noted on X.
