Balod (Chhattisgarh), March 28 (NationPress) The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), a key initiative of the Modi administration, is aiding millions from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and low-income households in constructing pucca houses (permanent homes). The significant transformations in the lives of these individuals are evident on the ground.

An Awas Utsav event took place in Balod district of Chhattisgarh on Friday, attracting numerous PMAY beneficiaries who reaped the benefits of this groundbreaking scheme.

During the event, many rural beneficiaries received certificates and keys to their new homes. The radiant smiles and joyful expressions of the recipients illustrated their elation at moving into pucca houses.

This development comes just days prior to PM Modi's anticipated visit to Bilaspur district in the state. The Prime Minister is scheduled to lay the foundation stone, commence work, and inaugurate various development projects related to power, oil and gas, rail, road, education, and housing sectors, totaling over Rs 33,700 crore.

A Griha Pravesh ceremony for approximately 3 lakh beneficiaries under the PMAY-Gramin (PMAY-G) will also take place, during which the Prime Minister will distribute keys to some of the beneficiaries.

The Awas Utsav in Balod was graced by the presence of Collector Indrajit Singh Chandrawal, CEO District Panchayat Dr Sanjay Kannauje, BJP District President Cheman Deshmukh, District Panchayat Vice President Tomman Sahu, along with various administrative officials.

According to official data, around 2,843 beneficiaries will receive pucca houses in Balod district. To date, more than 50,000 applications for housing assistance have been approved.

Under the PMAY-G initiative, a total target of 3.79 crore houses has been set for States/UTs across the nation, with 3.34 crore houses sanctioned and 2.69 crore houses completed thus far.
