New Delhi, March 28 (NationPress) A contentious issue has arisen from Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, where a foreign student enrolled in a private university has been accused of masquerading as a transgender individual and soliciting donations from worshippers at local temples. These allegations have ignited political responses, prompting calls for a comprehensive investigation.

A report lodged with the police by the Hindu Raksha Manch claims that the individual, identified as Saifdul Islam, purportedly dressed as a transgender person to request funds from temple-goers in the area.

The complaint also notes that the individual presents himself as a Bangladeshi student on his Instagram account, raising suspicions about his motives and activities.

The situation has escalated due to the student’s foreign nationality, leading the BJP to demand an extensive inquiry into the allegations.

Opposition Leader Jai Ram Thakur described the incident as a potential “Intelligence failure,” asserting that if the claims are validated, it would pose serious concerns regarding oversight and security protocols.

Thakur highlighted that surveillance has been implemented during political gatherings, yet there are claims of oversight in areas necessitating tighter scrutiny. He stated that he would bring this issue to the Assembly if the allegations are confirmed.

Thakur remarked, "I have heard about this, but it needs to be verified. I believe that if this incident is indeed true, it represents a significant lapse by Intelligence. The key point is that he is a foreigner. They are visiting sensitive locations, including religious sites, exploiting religious sentiments, and even raising funds in such a manner…"

Meanwhile, Shimla MLA Harish Janartha has promised to take action, emphasizing that foreign students in India on study visas must strictly comply with their visa conditions. “I became aware of this matter through the media. I will communicate with senior police officials to ensure stringent action is taken,” he stated, adding that necessary steps may also involve collaboration with the Bangladeshi embassy.

Police officials have confirmed the receipt of the complaint and are expected to investigate the claims thoroughly. Authorities will likely review visa compliance, identity verification, and the individual’s activities before moving forward.
