In a significant move, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav is currently in Bengaluru to formally present an allotment letter for 60 hectares (or 148 acres) of land to the company.
“Now, Vande Bharat coaches will be produced in Madhya Pradesh, similar to their current production in Bengaluru, thanks to this investment,” CM Yadav remarked in Bengaluru after handing over the relevant land documents.
The upcoming facility will be situated in Umaria village, located in Goharganj tehsil of Raisen district.
The state cabinet of Madhya Pradesh has green-lighted the land allocation for this venture, aimed at enhancing the production capabilities for rolling stock, rail, and metro coaches in the region.
During a ceremonial event in Bengaluru on Wednesday, Chief Minister Yadav officially handed over the land allotment documentation to BEML.
With this acquisition of 148 acres in Madhya Pradesh, the company is expanding its manufacturing footprint, thereby strengthening domestic production capabilities.
The government has sanctioned 60.063 hectares in Umaria for a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to producing rail and metro components as part of national infrastructure initiatives.
State representatives will deliver the official allotment letter to BEML in the presence of the Chief Minister. BEML is committed to establishing a factory in Goharganj, Raisen district, specifically for high-speed rail and metro coach fabrication.
During his visit, Chief Minister Yadav is also set to tour the institute and participate in an interactive session with investors in Bengaluru, promoting the industrial potential of Madhya Pradesh.
BEML, based in Bengaluru, manufactures a diverse range of heavy machinery, including earthmoving, transport, railway, and mining equipment. It stands as Asia's second-largest producer of earthmoving equipment.
The Bengaluru event was organized to attract investments across various sectors.
CM Yadav and investors engaged in one-on-one discussions regarding key sectors such as information technology, electronics, manufacturing, defence, automobiles, and tourism.
He will also visit the BEML facility and attend the unveiling of the 2,100th metro coach.
Additionally, CM Yadav addressed an investment forum focused on opportunities within Madhya Pradesh, highlighting the state's industrial capabilities and policy frameworks to influential investors from both Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises (MSMEs) and larger sectors.
This initiative enhances BEML's role in the nation's 'Make in India' program while addressing the rising demand for advanced transport solutions. It also fosters regional development through job creation.
