Patna, Oct 7 (NationPress) As the Bihar Assembly election dates are unveiled, the political atmosphere in the state has intensified. RJD leader Lalu Prasad’s enigmatic message, “Six and eleven, NDA, nine-two-eleven!” has elicited strong responses from the ruling NDA faction.
Union Minister and JDU representative Ramnath Thakur asserted that the citizens of Bihar have decisively chosen to reinstate Nitish Kumar and the NDA into power.
In a pointed reaction to Lalu’s remarks, Thakur stated, “Since 2005, he has been claiming that Nitish Kumar wouldn’t return to power. Yet, despite his forecasts, Nitish Kumar has consistently formed the government. The Opposition can level accusations all they want, but the people of Bihar are resolute in their decision.”
Addressing comments from a Congress leader who referred to Rahul Gandhi as a “Jan Nayak” (People’s Leader), Thakur made a historical reference: “When the two ‘Yuvrajs’ (Rahul and Tejashwi) were traversing Bihar for the caste survey, someone in Patna attempted to claim the title of Jan Nayak. Prime Minister Modi has stated that Karpoori Thakur was recognized as Jan Nayak by the citizens of Bihar and the marginalized populations of the nation, rather than by himself or any political entity. A title granted by the people cannot be taken away.”
He continued, “In 1974, Jayaprakash Narayan was regarded as ‘Loknayak’ by students during their movement. Is there room for another Loknayak? No. Likewise, Karpoori Thakur was labeled Jan Nayak by the populace, not through a political proclamation. One does not earn the title of people’s leader merely by being given a designation.”
Thakur also addressed rumors regarding discord within the NDA, particularly concerning seat-sharing and alleged tensions with LJP (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan.
“Such matters are often reported in the press. From what I gather, these issues will be resolved shortly,” he remarked, dismissing any notion of a significant division within the coalition.
Describing the elections as a festival of democracy, Thakur stated, “The announcement was made at 4 p.m. yesterday. Voting is scheduled for November 6 and 11, with results to be revealed on November 14. Just as the people of Bihar eagerly anticipate train tickets during Chhath, Diwali, and Dussehra, they were waiting for this announcement to partake in the festival of democracy.”
