Key Takeaways
Patna, Feb 12 (NationPress) On Thursday, the Bihar government committed to the Legislative Assembly that effective and time-sensitive actions are underway to permanently address land disputes in the state.
In response to a query from Barauli MLA Manjeet Singh, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Revenue and Land Reforms Vijay Kumar Sinha stated that the government aims to prevent land disputes from becoming a burden for future generations.
He further informed the Assembly that the survey of unassessed lands is advancing swiftly, with a goal to complete this within the next two years.
The Deputy Chief Minister emphasized that the government's priority is to survey non-disputed land first, to ensure accurate records are maintained and to avert potential disputes in the future.
During his public hearings, Sinha revealed that approximately 4.6 million complaints were filed, with nearly 4 million related to corrections in records.
These complaints included mistakes involving names, accounts, Khasra numbers, and other land documentation.
He instructed relevant officials to address these cases as a priority, to prevent unnecessary hardships for citizens.
In the meantime, the opposition staged protests before the House proceedings.
MLAs from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) demonstrated in the Assembly portico, displaying banners and placards with phrases like “Bihar is number one in crime and unemployment” and “Save Bihar from Narendra Modi and Nitish Kumar”.
Additionally, Congress MLA Abhishek Ranjan attended the Assembly with his mouth covered by a black bandage, accusing the government of evading discussions on the escalating crime rate in the state.
The opposition demanded debates regarding the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant, the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Darbhanga, and multiple rape incidents in Khagaria and other districts.
Opposition leaders asserted that the state government is framing charges against those protesting against these crime incidents.
Despite the protests, the House proceedings commenced amidst slogans and demonstrations from opposition members.
