Patna, March 23 (NationPress) Senior Congress figure Pawan Khera on Sunday condemned the declining law and order in Bihar, asserting that the state is facing considerable turmoil and that citizens are now turning to Congress with expectations of change.
In an interview with IANS, Khera highlighted alarming crime rates, including the murder of a police officer and assaults on civilians, as indicators of Bihar's deteriorating condition.
"Bihar is in a state of considerable turmoil, and understandably, during such chaos, the populace looks for change. Just today, I learned of a hospital director being killed, and previously, a police officer was attacked and lost his life during a raid. The law and order situation is disintegrating," Khera stated.
His comments came after the death of ASI Rajiv Ranjan Mal during a confrontation with criminals and locals in Araria, along with numerous other violent incidents that have heightened anxieties regarding governance in the state.
In light of Bihar's governance crisis, Congress has initiated the 'Naukri Do, Palayan Roko' (Provide Jobs, Halt Migration) Padyatra, which addresses the challenges of unemployment and migration within the state. The yatra arrived in Samastipur on Tuesday, garnering a positive reception from the community.
Khera underscored that migration continues to be a significant problem for Bihar.
"Our 'Naukri Do, Palayan Roko' Yatra is dedicated to this issue, as migration severely impacts Bihar's dignity. Individuals are compelled to abandon their homes, culture, and families in search of employment and opportunities. However, Bihar possesses ample resources and the capability to not only provide jobs for its residents but also to draw in outsiders," he added.
He reiterated that Bihar has the necessary resources and potential to create employment opportunities, yet individuals are still leaving their homes, culture, and families in pursuit of jobs.
"Our yatra aims to bring attention to this concern and advocate for solutions. Congress is committed to addressing real, fundamental issues. With new leadership and renewed vigor, our party is poised to tackle these critical challenges. Elections should revolve around genuine issues, and that’s where the political dialogue must be focused," Khera remarked.
Congress has been challenging Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's governance capabilities, raising concerns regarding his physical and mental well-being.
"The Chief Minister's health is indeed concerning. We wish him recovery, but the current circumstances in Bihar raise significant questions. How secure is Bihar under the guidance of a chief minister who is unwell?" Khera queried.
