Patna, March 19 (NationPress) The political atmosphere in Bihar is intensifying as the Congress party adopts the 'padyatra' strategy to rally public backing ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for later this year.
Kanhaiya Kumar, a prominent leader from Congress, initiated the 'Padyatra' to advocate for employment opportunities and to halt the trend of migration, rallying under the banner, "Palayan Roko, Naukri Do" (Stop Migration, Provide Jobs).
The BJP has ridiculed the Congress leadership in Bihar, asserting that the historic party lacks any significant political capital in the state.
The march, which commenced on March 16 from the Bihitiharwa Gandhi Ashram, is expected to traverse multiple districts across Bihar before concluding in Patna on April 14.
Alongside Kanhaiya Kumar, Akhilesh Singh, the President of Bihar Congress, and Krishna Allavaru, the Bihar Congress In-charge, are also partaking in this movement.
Throughout the march, Kanhaiya Kumar seized the opportunity to criticize the state government for its inability to curb migration and create job opportunities for the youth. He emphasized the aim of the march by stating,
“This yatra seeks to end the migration from Bihar and secure jobs for the unemployed youth. The current government has fallen short on both accounts.” He further commented, "While love letters can’t be leaked, exam question papers are being leaked," delivering a sharp rebuke of the administration.
When queried about his future political ambitions and which seat he might contest in the forthcoming elections, Kanhaiya Kumar replied, “I will disclose which seat I will run from after this padyatra concludes.”
In a contrasting view, BJP MLA Haribhushan Thakur condemned the Congress’s position and leadership, asserting, “The party has depleted its political capital. They are currently fixated on the ‘Kalank Kumar’ issue, who once advocated for the division of the country. The Congress lacks the power to instigate any meaningful change in Bihar; it is merely limping along.”
Thakur elaborated, “The Congress resembles a lifeless entity. No amount of oxygen can revive it. The party in Bihar is effectively deceased and leans on crutches. There is no possibility of it regaining power.”
RJD leader and MLA Rakesh Kumar Roshan expressed his thoughts, stating, “Kanhaiya Kumar’s padyatra serves the people. We have no objections to it. He is not an unfamiliar face; he has previously contested elections. If Rahul Gandhi trusts him, and if the results are favorable, it will benefit both the Congress and our alliance.”
Roshan further clarified that the INDI alliance remains robust despite any political maneuverings, asserting, “There is no division within the alliance. We will approach the next elections united under the INDI alliance.”
