Kolkata, Nov 14 (NationPress) The results from the Bihar Assembly elections, which have shown a significant majority for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), appear to have energized BJP officials in West Bengal as they prepare for the pivotal upcoming Assembly elections in the state.

Following the clear trend emerging from Bihar, the Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, Suvendu Adhikari, addressed the media on Friday, asserting that if the Election Commission of India (ECI) conducts free and fair elections in West Bengal next year, similar to what occurred in Bihar, it would ensure the end of the 15-year reign of the Trinamool Congress.

Adhikari stated, “In Bihar, voters chose continued social and economic advancement, a stable law and order environment that guarantees women’s safety, and enhanced governance. In West Bengal, the electorate will vote against the extended misrule of the Trinamool Congress, which has plagued the lives of citizens with rampant corruption, rising crime rates against women, and a complete breakdown of law and order.”

He further mentioned that, akin to Bihar, elections in West Bengal would follow the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process by the ECI.

“The Trinamool Congress is already anxious about the revision process, which will lead to the removal of several illegal Bangladeshi and Rohingya voter names,” claimed Adhikari.

BJP’s state general secretary, Jagannath Chattopadhyay, expressed confidence that after securing victories in Odisha in 2024 and Bihar in 2025, the next triumph for the BJP would be in West Bengal in 2026. “There is no turning back now,” he emphasized.

In response to the election outcomes in Bihar, Kunal Ghosh, the state general secretary of the Trinamool Congress, remarked that the results from Bihar would not influence the Assembly elections in West Bengal next year.

“The ground realities in West Bengal differ significantly from those in Bihar. The state government and the Trinamool Congress, under Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s leadership, still hold the trust of the people of West Bengal, who recognize that the Trinamool Congress is their most reliable ally, while the BJP is viewed as their greatest adversary,” Ghosh stated.

Point of View

The BJP's optimism following Bihar's results invites scrutiny. While BJP leaders project confidence, the Trinamool Congress emphasizes its stronghold on voter trust. This dynamic reflects the broader electoral landscape, highlighting the importance of local context in shaping electoral outcomes.
