Bihar: Student Activist Dilip Kumar Released on Bail Following BPSC Protest

Patna, Dec 10 (NationPress) Student activist Dilip Kumar, who was detained during a demonstration outside the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office, has been granted bail by the district court on Tuesday.

The protest was initiated by students who were seeking clarity regarding the normalisation process for the upcoming 70th BPSC Combined Preliminary Examination, set to take place on December 13.

Numerous students, including Dilip Kumar, expressed concerns that the normalisation process may have been put into effect without adequate explanation.

The arrest of Dilip Kumar by the police in Patna resulted in his detention, along with approximately 250 unnamed students who faced charges of attempting to incite riots, conspiracy, and obstructing governmental operations.

Following his arrest, Kumar appeared in court on Saturday, where he was placed in judicial custody until the court approved his bail.

In recent days, students have been mobilising for his release, which was successfully accomplished following the court's ruling.

Last Friday, candidates congregated outside the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) office in Patna to protest against alleged normalisation in the 70th BPSC Combined Preliminary Examination.

Despite prior assurances from the BPSC that normalisation would not occur, the demonstrators chanted slogans, disrupted traffic on Bailey Road, and created a significant disturbance.

Law enforcement attempted to disperse the crowd but resorted to using force when the protesters refused to comply. The district administration subsequently cautioned that severe legal action would be taken against those contributing to public disorder.

The demonstration was spearheaded by student leader Dilip Kumar, who was later arrested, and an FIR was lodged against the Patna-based coaching centre Khan Global Studies as well.

This coaching centre reportedly disseminated misleading posts on the social media platform X, including one alleging the detention of Khan Sir, a notable figure, despite no such event occurring. This post was interpreted as an effort to provoke additional unrest.

The arrest of Dilip Kumar and the circumstances surrounding the protest have ignited widespread student unrest, yet authorities have reaffirmed their dedication to upholding law and order.
