BPSC Refutes Claims of 'Normalisation' in Upcoming Exam

Patna, Dec 6 (NationPress) In light of significant uproar regarding normalisation, the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has provided a thorough clarification, decisively negating the circulating rumors.
The Commission clarified that the ‘normalisation’ process is not referenced in any part of the advertisement for the 70th Combined Preliminary Examination, nor was it suggested at a later time.
It confirmed that the exam is scheduled to take place in a single shift on December 13, 2024 (Friday), from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m., rendering normalisation irrelevant.
Normalisation is a method intended to tackle potential discrepancies in the difficulty levels of various question papers across multiple shifts of an examination.
In a statement released by BPSC, the Commission expressed astonishment at the propagation of these rumors, indicating that they were likely concocted by certain “coaching operators and student leaders” to mislead examinees.
BPSC urged candidates to dismiss the false information circulating on social media and assured them of a transparent and equitable examination process.
Despite this clarification, tensions persist in Gardanibagh Patna, the site of the protest. Many aspirants have commenced demonstrations based on the belief that normalisation would place them at a disadvantage.
Education figures such as Faizal Khan, known as Khan Sir, and Motiur Rahman Khan, referred to as Guru Rahman, have joined the protests, criticizing the perceived lack of communication from BPSC and championing candidates' rights.
The police action against protesting candidates has further intensified tensions, resulting in public outrage and calls for accountability.
This situation highlights the necessity for BPSC to engage in clear and proactive communication to avert misunderstandings.
Meanwhile, student leaders and educators are likely to persist in advocating for transparency and reforms within the examination system.
The statement from the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) emphasizes that the advertisement for the examination was published on September 23. The initial application window was from September 28 to October 18.
BPSC had extended the application deadline until November 4 to cater to candidates' demands and interests.
The statement further noted that BPSC has implemented substantial measures to ensure the examination is free from malpractice. Among the reforms, the development of multi-set papers is a significant initiative. However, the examination will ultimately utilize a single set of question papers to maintain consistency.
Candidates are encouraged to prepare thoroughly and approach the examination with a composed mindset. The Commission reiterates its commitment to transparency and fairness throughout the process.
This statement aims to address candidates' concerns, reinforce the BPSC's dedication to integrity, and motivate applicants to concentrate on their preparation.
