BPSC Candidates Demand 'Nitish Kumar Go Back' During Chief Minister's Pragati Yatra

Patna, Jan 13 (NationPress) The Pragati Yatra conducted by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Samastipur on Monday was interrupted by protests from numerous candidates of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) and other student groups. The demonstrators vociferously shouted Nitish Kumar Go Back.

The Chief Minister made stops at various sites, including Rayapur in Ujiarpur block and Sheikhopur in Warisnagar. The protests intensified near the entrance of the Samastipur Collectorate, where students from different organizations united with the BPSC candidates.

The assembled crowd persistently raised the slogan Nitish Kumar Go Back, clearly voicing their dissatisfaction with the government's management of the BPSC examination and the perceived neglect of the students' protests.

Candidates have expressed their concerns regarding the transparency and fairness of the BPSC Preliminary Examination, insisting on its cancellation and the conduction of a new examination.

Frustration among protesters grew due to an incident where Patna District Magistrate (DM) Chandrashekhar Singh reportedly slapped a student during an examination. Additionally, the Patna Police resorted to using cane charge on the students three times to control the situation.

The demonstrators are calling for decisive action against the officials in Patna.

On December 13, an altercation involving the Patna DM, who allegedly slapped a protesting student, has become a central issue in the criticism directed at the government's handling of student complaints.

The students caused significant disruption on the roads, obstructing the Chief Minister's itinerary. Law enforcement intervened and employed force to disperse the protesters as they attempted to manage the unrest.

Claims of irregularities and mistakes have further fueled the frustration among the candidates.

The visit of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to Samastipur during his Pragati Yatra on Monday was predominantly overshadowed by protests from BPSC candidates and students.

The unrest originated from the chaos at Bapu Centre in Kumhrar, Patna, on December 13, 2024, regarding alleged irregularities in the 70th BPSC examination.

In addition to the students, various political factions and leaders participated in the ongoing protests in the Gardanibagh area of Patna, including the Jan Suraaj Party, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan (alias Pappu Yadav), RJD, Congress, and CPI-ML.
