Patna, Dec 10 (NationPress) Bihar is gearing up for a significant offensive against illegal sand mining and the land mafia, following explicit directives from Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary.
Responding to these orders, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) has established a Special Task Force (STF) focused on probing and dismantling the financial infrastructures of these criminal organizations.
This newly formed STF will be led by EOU DIG Manavjit Singh Dhillon.
The primary objective is to carry out financial investigations, pinpoint the illegally amassed assets of the sand and land mafias, and commence rigorous legal actions for the confiscation of their ill-gotten gains.
Assisting DIG Dhillon will be SP Rajesh Kumar, along with 4 Deputy Superintendents of Police and 5 Inspectors from the EOU.
This robust team will not only engage in direct operations against the mafias but will also work collaboratively with various government departments, agencies, and district administrations to bolster enforcement and ensure extensive actions.
The task force will delve into how these mafias have constructed vast illegal empires, generated unaccounted wealth, and evaded previous enforcement measures.
By tracing their financial routes, the STF strives to dismantle the extensive network supporting illegal mining and land grabbing in Bihar.
After a high-level joint meeting with the Deputy Chief Minister and DGP, the EOU has launched a public helpline for citizens to relay intelligence.
Residents can report incidents of illegal mining, dubious property transactions, or mafia-related activities by calling or texting 90318 29072.
All information provided will remain confidential.
Officials indicated that involving the public will significantly strengthen the battle against organized crime and aid the administration in dismantling the reign of sand and land mafias in the state.
Previously, Bihar's Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, who also oversees the mining and land reform department, has championed stringent actions against these mafias.
