Patna, June 20 (NationPress) Just days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative for the ‘Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan’ (Developed Agriculture Resolution Campaign), a dedicated group of scientists and experts have launched a significant outreach endeavor aimed at educating villagers about the evolving dynamics of agriculture and the necessity for reforms in the sector.
In Samastipur, Bihar, a cohort of 720 scientists has been established by Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University. Alongside 1,756 agricultural officers, they have engaged with 993 villages to date. This team has successfully reached out to 96,475 farmers, addressing their concerns while also providing actionable solutions.
During a recent address, PM Modi remarked, “With the monsoon on the horizon, preparations for the Kharif season are in full swing. In the upcoming 12 to 15 days, more than 2,000 teams comprising scientists, specialists, officials, and progressive farmers will be visiting villages nationwide. These teams aim to connect with millions of farmers across over 700 districts.”
“In today’s swiftly changing environment, comprehensive reforms in Indian agriculture are essential. Our farmers have significantly contributed to food reserves through record production. However, markets and consumer preferences are shifting. Thus, this initiative seeks to foster improvements in the agricultural framework by collaborating with farmers and state authorities. The objective is to modernize Indian agriculture through direct engagement with farmers,” he elaborated.
Led by Dr PS Pandey, Vice Chancellor of Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, this campaign is scheduled to continue until June 12.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that a prosperous nation is tied to the prosperity of its farmers, which is the foundation of the Sankalp Abhiyan launched by the Prime Minister.
As part of this campaign, teams of agricultural scientists are actively visiting villages to communicate directly with farmers, listening to their challenges and recommending solutions.
Currently, 174 teams are active in Bihar and Jharkhand, targeting nearly 100,000 farmers, while 130 teams in Bihar aim to connect with 645,000 farmers.
Additionally, 38 teams have been established by Dr Rajendra Prasad Central Agricultural University, Pusa, through 16 agricultural science centres across 13 districts, with a goal of reaching 190,000 farmers.
