Motihari, Sep 24 (NationPress) A wave of joy is sweeping through Bihar as the inaugural installment of the 'Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana' is poised for distribution on September 26, igniting fresh aspirations among millions of women throughout the state.
This visionary program, initiated by the Bihar government in partnership with the Central government, will directly transfer Rs 10,000 into the bank accounts of qualified women, aimed at fostering self-employment and financial autonomy.
Over 7.5 million women in Bihar are anticipated to gain from this initial phase. A significant state-level event is scheduled to commemorate this milestone, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi expected to address the beneficiaries virtually.
Women from regions such as Motihari have shared their excitement and plans for utilizing these funds. For many, this initiative transcends mere financial support; it represents a journey toward self-reliance and empowerment.
In an interview with IANS, numerous women expressed their appreciation and entrepreneurial ambitions.
“We are receiving Rs 10,000 from the Modi government. My plan is to purchase goats and start a small animal-rearing business. This will enable us to care for our children and enhance our lives,” stated one beneficiary.
Another woman remarked: “I will invest the money in a sewing machine to begin tailoring from home. This marks a new chapter for me.”
A third beneficiary added, “This program is a true blessing. I intend to use the funds to establish my own business in my village after receiving the government assistance.”
The Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana aims to enhance employment opportunities for women and bolster their contribution to the state’s economic growth. The scheme's main goal is to provide financial resources to one woman from each household, enabling her to launch a small business or pursue employment of her choice.
The implementation of this initiative is overseen by the Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Committee (Jeevika) under the Rural Development Department, while the Urban Development and Housing Department is managing the execution in urban settings.
Beneficiaries will undergo evaluation six months post the initiation of their business activities. Depending on their progress, they could qualify for additional support of up to Rs 2 lakh.
To further promote women-led enterprises, the government is also planning to establish Haat Bazaars in villages, towns, and cities, offering women entrepreneurs platforms to showcase and sell their products.
Officials anticipate that the scheme will create substantial employment opportunities, enhance household income, improve living standards, and reduce migration by providing local job prospects for women.
