Did the Congress Party Shed Crocodile Tears While the Modi Government Honoured Ambedkar?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Dec 6 (NationPress) On this significant day, commemorating Dr. B. R. Ambedkar's Mahaparinirvan Diwas, the BJP launched an accusation against the Congress, claiming they are merely shedding crocodile tears. The party highlighted that the Modi administration has taken steps to honour the founding father of the Constitution.
During a function at the BJP headquarters in Bengaluru, Karnataka BJP President and MLA B. Y. Vijayendra remarked that the Congress party is only expressing empty sentiments regarding Dr. B. R. Ambedkar.
Vijayendra stated, “The remarkable Constitution that India possesses today, which is respected globally, was crafted under Dr. Ambedkar’s leadership.”
He emphasized the necessity to embrace Ambedkar's principles and the vision of an equal society throughout the nation.
“Ensuring the protection of rights through the Constitution was a noble endeavor spearheaded by him. Not only did our Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaim November 26 as Constitution Day, but the BJP government has also paid homage to Babasaheb,” he added.
Vijayendra accused the Congress party of failing to honour Ambedkar appropriately, notably by not awarding him the Bharat Ratna. “The Congress plotted to defeat him in elections. Yet, they criticize the BJP as being anti-constitutional while trying to mask their own failures,” he remarked.
He also mentioned that the BJP government has transformed significant places related to Ambedkar into Panch Teerth. “The sites include his birthplace, the house where he resided while studying in London, the Diksha location in Nagpur, and the memorial in Delhi. These developments have occurred under the BJP-NDA government, not the Congress,” he stated.
Vijayendra asserted that the Congress has never endorsed Ambedkar's ideals and even denied him a dignified burial.
“The Congress party is anti-poor and has consistently opposed Ambedkar's philosophies,” he concluded.
He called upon the public to actively protect the Constitution and uphold Ambedkar’s ideals.
The event saw participation from former Deputy CM Govind Karjol, along with party officials and members.
