New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) In a pointed critique of the Congress party, BJP National Spokesperson Sambit Patra held a press conference at the party headquarters in New Delhi on Saturday, accusing the long-established party of perpetually undermining the Indian armed forces and indirectly endorsing Pakistan through its political rhetoric and actions.
Patra drew a striking comparison, stating, “Externally, it may appear as the Congress Working Committee (CWC), but internally, it resembles a Pakistan Working Committee (PWC).
He took aim at Congress MP and former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi for casting doubt on the legitimacy of the 2019 Indian Armed Forces surgical strike that was a response to the Pulwama terror incident.
“Following its Working Committee meeting, the Congress Party conducted a separate press conference, strategically led by Channi, who questioned the very existence of the surgical strikes. This is not just irresponsible; it poses a danger,” Patra asserted.
Pointing to a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, Patra challenged the Congress’ commitment to national security.
“Even if the Congress party dismisses terrorist attacks as trivial, even if the sentiments of the nation’s citizens are disregarded by the Congress party, Rahul Gandhi, former party President Sonia Gandhi, and the Gandhi family do not have the right to continuously demoralize our armed forces or to toy with the emotions of the people,” he stated.
Further intensifying his criticism, Patra referred to recent remarks made in Pakistan’s Parliament, where PTI senator Saifullah Abro commended Indian Opposition parties such as the Aam Aadmi Party and Samajwadi Party for criticizing Prime Minister Modi instead of denouncing terrorism.
“In the Parliament of Pakistan, PTI Senator Saifullah Abro mentioned that the entire Indian Opposition is condemning the Pahalgam attack, including Delhi’s Aam Aadmi Party and Uttar Pradesh’s Samajwadi Party. No one is backing Modi; everyone is opposing him. They assert that Modi has consistently acted against Muslims and now he won't receive any protection. In Pakistan’s Parliament, there is admiration for Akhilesh Yadav and Arvind Kejriwal,” he said.
“So Rahul Gandhi thought, why not join in? That’s why he urged Charanjit Singh Channi to hold a press conference that is now also receiving praise in Pakistan,” Patra claimed.
He emphasized that the Congress Party’s actions equate to supplying “oxygen” to Pakistan-sponsored terrorism. “This is not merely political maneuvering; it represents a betrayal of national interests. The Congress must explain why it continues to articulate Pakistan’s narrative on Indian soil,” Patra concluded.
