New Delhi, May 3 (NationPress) In a heated debate regarding India's military actions, BJP National Spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla delivered a fierce criticism against the Congress party. He accused them of consistently demeaning the Indian armed forces for their political ambitions, following remarks made by former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, who questioned the legitimacy of the surgical strike executed by the Indian Army.
Poonawalla stated, “Today, the Congress party should be renamed from INC to ANC, Anti National Congress. The only identity of the Congress is to continuously insult the Army, 'Sena ka karo lagataar apmaan, Pakistan ko bulao apna bhaijaan' (insult the Army continuously and call Pakistan your brother). In the all-party meeting, they claim to support the nation and the Army while demanding stern actions. Yet, as soon as they leave, they allow vote bank politics to take precedence over national interests.”
He further asserted, “One after another, their leaders grant clean chits to Pakistan, advocate for dialogue, and in doing so, undermine the morale of our armed forces by indirectly endorsing Islamic jihad.
“The closest leader to Rahul Gandhi, Channi, consistently demands evidence that surgical strikes occurred. This reflects the Congress' mindset; they trust terrorism and nations that nurture terrorism,” he added.
Poonawalla referenced comments from other Congress figures to highlight what he called a consistent pattern of military disrespect.
“Saifuddin claims Pakistan can be trusted, Siddaramaiah insists that robust action against Pakistan should not be taken. This is the same Congress party that denied the Army Rafale jets and failed to construct a National War Memorial,” he noted.
The controversy ignited when Channi questioned the credibility of India’s military operations during the surgical strike, stating, “A bomb could drop in our own country and we wouldn’t even know? They claim we executed surgical strikes in Pakistan, but nothing happened, no one witnessed anything, and no one became aware.”
Channi's statements have incited anger among BJP leaders, who accuse the Congress party of jeopardizing national security and demoralizing the armed forces for vote bank politics.
