With banners in hand and chants of "Pradushan par jawab do (Answer on pollution)" echoing, AAP MLAs, spearheaded by Leader of Opposition (LoP) Atishi, insisted on answers from the ruling party.
Speaking to IANS, Gopal Rai, the AAP MLA and former Delhi Environment Minister, remarked, "This time, the residents of Delhi are enduring significant hardships due to pollution. It is incumbent upon the Legislative Assembly to address this matter. The government must explain its failure and why it has not met its obligations."
He accused the government of evading the discussion.
"Yesterday, when MLAs sought answers, they faced suspension; this illustrates that the government is reluctant to engage. Nevertheless, we will persist in raising the pollution issue until the government is open to dialogue," Rai stated.
The second day of the Winter Session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly saw protests from both the BJP and the AAP over various issues.
The ruling party criticized the opposition regarding the dog-counting accusation, while the AAP maintained its focus on the Rekha Gupta government concerning air pollution in the capital.
The BJP also held a protest outside the Delhi Assembly, condemning AAP leader and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his claims that government school teachers were tasked with counting stray dogs.
Subsequently, BJP MLAs assembled outside the Delhi Assembly, brandishing banners and chanting slogans against the AAP leader, demanding an apology for his statements.
According to data from the Central Pollution Control Board’s (CPCB) Sameer app, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in the national capital was 286 on Tuesday, indicating a slight deterioration from the 244 recorded on Monday.
