Mumbai, Jan 16 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared the performance of the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections as a significant mandate for development.
Speaking to reporters at the BJP's state headquarters after celebrating their remarkable success in Mumbai and across Maharashtra, CM Fadnavis highlighted the support from the public regarding the issues that were central to their electoral campaign.
This celebration was graced by the presence of BJP state president Ravindra Chavan and Mumbai BJP president Ameet Satam.
“The overwhelming response from the public reflects their desire for development. Henceforth, our focus will solely be on uplifting the lives of the poor and middle class through our developmental agenda,” CM Fadnavis stated.
While acknowledging the contributions of Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray, he dedicated the victory to the party workers and emphasized the responsibility of newly elected BJP corporators to uphold the public's trust.
“Your election is a testament to the people's faith in the BJP. I expect your conduct to reflect this trust,” he urged.
CM Fadnavis underscored the extraordinary nature of their win, noting that the BJP and the Mahayuti alliance achieved a “Grand Victory” (Mahavijay), setting new electoral benchmarks. He expressed optimism that the Mahayuti banner would continue to prevail in the BMC.
Maharashtra remains steadfast in its support for PM Modi. This victory is blessed by Balasaheb Thackeray and our Mahayuti,” CM Fadnavis remarked.
The Chief Minister elaborated on the party’s ideological beliefs, stating: “Hindutva is the essence of our mission and our ideology. We take pride in being Hindutvavadis. Development and Hindutva are intertwined. Our vision embraces a broad, inclusive Hindutva that welcomes all who cherish India’s rich culture and follow its ancient lifestyle. This expansive perspective has garnered us widespread public support.”
CM Fadnavis reiterated to party leaders and workers that their election was a reflection of the public's confidence in PM Modi and the BJP, and expressed trust that the elected officials would uphold this integrity in their future endeavors.
In his remarks, CM Fadnavis congratulated Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for the Mahayuti's success, though he notably did not mention Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar.
Meanwhile, BJP state chief Ravindra Chavan remarked that voters have chosen Maharashtra's progress over emotional appeals. “For years, dedicated BJP workers aspired to lead the party to success and realized that dream through hard work. Countless workers have championed the party’s ideology at the grassroots level,” Chavan stated, dedicating the victory to all these committed karyakartas (workers).
“Under the guidance of PM Modi, Union Home Minister Shah, National President J.P. Nadda, and National Working President Nitin Nabin, and under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ leadership, the BJP approached this election with a developmental agenda. While the opposition sought to sway voters with emotional rhetoric, it is evident that the public is not easily fooled by such ‘hypocrisy’,” said Chavan. He expressed gratitude to the voters for supporting the BJP’s focus on progress.
“For many years, elections were influenced by emotional issues that swayed voters. However, this election under Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’s competent leadership has turned the tide for Maharashtra's development. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the people of Maharashtra on behalf of the party and all its workers for their overwhelming support towards ‘Vision Maharashtra’ and our goal of steering the state towards a Trillion-Dollar Economy,” said Chavan.
