Hyderabad, Oct 21 (NationPress) Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, Arjun Ram Meghwal, G. Kishan Reddy, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, B. Srinivasa Varma, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma are part of the 40 star campaigners unveiled by the BJP for the upcoming by-elections in the Jubilee Hills Assembly of Telangana.
Among the youthful leaders representing the BJP are K. Annamalai, Tejasvi Surya, and party MPs D.K. Aruna and D. Purandeswari, who will actively campaign for the saffron party’s candidate ahead of the November 11 by-election.
The central leadership of the party revealed the list of star campaigners shortly after their candidate, L. Deepak Reddy, submitted his nomination.
Also included are BJP’s OBC Mora president and MP Dr. K. Laxman, national general secretary in charge of Telangana Sunil Bansal, state president N. Ramchander Rao, along with MPs Eatala Rajender, Dharampuri Arvind, Konda Vishweswar Reddy, M. Raghunandan Rao, and Godem Nagesh. The Andhra Pradesh health minister Satya Kumar and Andhra Pradesh unit president PNV Madhav are also key participants in the campaign.
In a parallel development, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has announced its own lineup of 40 star campaigners for the election.
Leading the BRS team are President and former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), working president K. T. Rama Rao, and senior leader/former minister T. Harish Rao.
Other notable figures from the BRS include former ministers Srinivas Yadav, Padmarao Goud, Mahmood Ali, Prashanth Reddy, E. Dayakar Rao, Srinivas Goud, Niranjan Reddy, Jagadish Reddy, Gangula Kamalakar, and Sabitha Indra Reddy, who will also be campaigning.
This by-election has been prompted by the unfortunate passing of Maganti Gopinath, who previously won on the BRS ticket in 2023. The BRS has nominated his wife, Maganti Sunitha, to contest.
The ruling Congress party has selected Naveen Yadav as its candidate.
BJP’s Deepak Reddy filed his nomination on the final day, having previously contested in Jubilee Hills during the 2023 elections.
In the last election, Gopinath of BRS defeated former Indian cricket captain and Congress candidate Mohammed Azharuddin by a margin of 16,337 votes, securing the seat for a third consecutive term.
In a competitive race, Gopinath obtained 80,549 votes while Azharuddin garnered 64,212 votes. Deepak Reddy finished third with 25,866 votes.
