Tamil Nadu BJP Calls for Strong NDA Support in Puducherry Assembly Elections
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, April 9 (NationPress) The Tamil Nadu BJP has urged the electorate in Puducherry to cast their votes decisively in favor of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) as voting commenced across the Union Territory for all 30 Assembly constituencies.
Labeling this election as a “historic opportunity”, party spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad emphasized that citizens can enhance what he described as a successful “double engine government” - a synchronized administration between the Central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Union Territory's government under Chief Minister N. Rangasamy.
Prasad noted that this collaboration has already yielded tangible benefits, citing development projects valued at over Rs 2,700 crore that have either been initiated or completed in recent times.
He also pointed out recent recruitment initiatives that have filled positions in critical sectors such as healthcare, education, and law enforcement, in addition to expanded welfare programs.
According to Prasad, Puducherry now boasts some of the highest old-age pensions in the nation, along with monthly financial support for women heads of households.
The BJP representative further asserted that unemployment rates have significantly dropped and that the public distribution system has been fortified under the current government.
He criticized the former Congress-DMK administration led by V. Narayanasamy, alleging corruption, poor governance, and policy failures that he claims had hindered development and eroded public confidence.
Looking to the future, Prasad mentioned that the NDA leadership, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, has devised plans to transform Puducherry into a significant IT and investment center.
Initiatives such as an IT corridor and the expansion of high-tech industries are intended to generate job opportunities and curb youth migration.
As votes continue to be cast throughout the Union Territory, critical issues such as governance, welfare delivery, employment, and leadership remain pivotal to the electoral battle.
The election outcome on May 4 will determine whether Puducherry remains under the NDA's governance or experiences a shift in political dynamics.
