Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 1 (NationPress) The BJP in Tamil Nadu asserted on Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Madurai signifies a “pivotal moment in politics” as the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) amplifies its engagement in the state in preparation for the forthcoming Assembly elections.
A.N.S. Prasad, the spokesperson for TN BJP, remarked that the Prime Minister's visit has sparked considerable excitement among party workers, youth, and first-time voters, both in person and across social media, where the slogan '#ModiComesNDAWins' is gaining traction.
He characterized the visit as emblematic of the NDA’s dedication to fostering a stronger connection between Tamil Nadu and national development efforts via a “double-engine government” framework.
Prasad emphasized the Prime Minister’s consistent acknowledgment of Tamil language and culture, stating that PM Modi has elevated Tamil on international stages.
He referenced remarks made by the Prime Minister in April 2024, labeling Tamil as “the world’s oldest language and India’s pride,” alongside the establishment of Thiruvalluvar Cultural Centres dedicated to promoting classical traditions globally.
Prasad also highlighted PM Modi’s address in Kuala Lumpur in February 2026, where he celebrated Tamil literature as timeless and unveiled plans for a Thiruvalluvar Centre in Malaysia.
Furthermore, he noted that PM Modi has quoted classical Tamil poets at the United Nations and discussed the Chola-period ‘kudavolai’ system as an early instance of democratic governance.
Regarding development, Prasad pointed to a January 23 event in Maduranthakam, where significant projects and an investment of Rs 11 lakh crore over 11 years were showcased. These include modernizing railways, redeveloping 77 railway stations, expanding national highways, PMGSY rural roads, extending the Chennai Metro, constructing a new Pamban Bridge, and upgrading airport and port facilities.
He added that welfare initiatives like PMAY housing, PM-KISAN aid, Mudra loans, and crop insurance have contributed to comprehensive growth in the state.
With elections on the horizon, Prasad expressed confidence that the Prime Minister’s visit will invigorate the NDA's campaign and influence the political landscape in the coming months.
