New Delhi, April 4 (NationPress) As the West Bengal Assembly elections approach, the BJP has praised the recent actions taken against Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders accused of voter intimidation, viewing it as a positive indication that the upcoming elections will be transparent and just.
The head of BJP’s Information Technology Cell and the central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, shared on X, “Another TMC operative, Hafijul Molla Pradhan from Deuli I Gram Panchayat, who was threatening voters, has been apprehended, and legal measures are underway. The arrests of two TMC leaders attempting to intimidate voters clearly demonstrate that the Election Commission is adopting a strict stance against such activities.”
He added, “This conveys a powerful message that the forthcoming elections will be transparent and just. It’s time to come out and vote for change.”
The BJP has been vocally critical of the TMC and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, asserting that the ruling party prioritizes illegal Muslim infiltrators over the rights and safety of the Bengali populace, especially Hindu Bengalis. Party representatives argue that the TMC’s focus undermines local voters and jeopardizes the integrity of the electoral process.
Malviya previously criticized the TMC for allegedly labeling Indian tennis legend Leander Paes as an “outsider” after he joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi earlier this week.
In his statement on social media, Malviya remarked, “The Trinamool has a problem with Bengalis, particularly Hindu Bengalis. Just yesterday, they referred to Leander Paes, a local hero, as an outsider, compelling him to emphasize his pride in being a descendant of Michael Madhusudan Dutt, a true nationalist who made significant contributions to Bengali and Indian literature.”
The BJP also expressed concerns regarding a letter from Mamata Banerjee to Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, accusing the Election Commission of India (ECI) and the BJP of trying to enroll voters from other states in West Bengal through mass submissions of Form-6 applications for new voter registration.
The party noted that the arrests of Hafijul Molla Pradhan and the other TMC leader indicate that the ECI is taking decisive action against voter intimidation, emphasizing that citizens can exercise their voting rights without fear. BJP leaders continue to urge voters to participate in the elections and advocate for change as the state approaches a highly competitive electoral battle.
