Chandigarh, Nov 22 (NationPress) In a demonstration demanding an outstanding sum of Rs 45,000 from the Mann administration in Punjab, based on promises made during the Assembly elections, hundreds of women, spearheaded by state BJP Mahila Morcha president Jai Inder Kaur, were apprehended while proceeding towards the 'Sheesh Mahal' of AAP's national convener Arvind Kejriwal here.

During a rally in Moga on November 22, 2021, Kejriwal declared that a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 would be provided to every woman in Punjab.

“Today marks 45 months, yet not a single rupee has reached the women who believed in him. The Rs 45,000 owed to each woman serves as a stark reminder of the empty promises that AAP has built its political narrative upon,” Kaur shared with the press.

She criticized AAP for having “misled” every woman who granted them a historic mandate.

Kaur stated that both Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann have “betrayed” the trust of the women of Punjab, transforming their proclaimed “guarantees” into mere “political deception”.

She noted that no woman in Punjab “feels secure today, as the law and order situation deteriorates under the AAP government. Incidents of snatching, assaults, and various crimes continue to emerge across the state, revealing the harsh reality of Punjab’s declining security landscape.”

Together with senior Mahila Morcha leaders, including Parampal Kaur, Menu Sethi, Renu Kashyap, Renu Thapar, Seema Kumari, Sarabjeet Bath, and Ekta Nagpal, Kaur and party activists were subsequently detained by the Chandigarh Police during the demonstration.

Kaur stressed that the citizens of Punjab “are astute and have thoroughly recognized the catastrophic misgovernance of this administration.”

She expressed that the countdown has commenced for AAP, and in the 2027 Assembly elections, the women of Punjab will deliver a fitting response to those who “betrayed” them.

“Just as Kejriwal faces rejection in Delhi, this government will soon be ousted as well. The only beacon of hope for Punjab today is the Bharatiya Janata Party,” she stated.

Kaur mentioned that during each Budget session, AAP reiterates the same claim that Rs 1,000 for women will be dispensed shortly.

“However, four years have elapsed, and the promise remains unfulfilled,” Kaur remarked.

She affirmed that the BJP Mahila Morcha would persist in their struggle until Punjab's women receive their due rightful payments, not just empty guarantees.

“Today's large-scale protest undeniably illustrates the growing anger and discontentment among Punjab’s populace regarding AAP’s duplicitous governance. The BJP Mahila Morcha has pledged to escalate its efforts until the government is held fully accountable for its betrayal of the women of Punjab,” she declared.
