Delhi BJP Questions AAP's Commitment to Women's Allowance Unlike Punjab

New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Casting doubt on the AAP government's dedication to issuing a monthly allowance to women, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva sent a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Saturday, questioning the absence of the promised allowance for women in the state.

Sachdeva inquired whether “the Punjab government is currently providing the promised Rs 1,000 monthly allowance, as pledged by the AAP during its February 2022 campaign?”

The Delhi BJP chief urged CM Mann to clarify: What is the name of the women’s program that facilitates the monthly allowance? When was the last distribution of monthly allowances to women in Punjab?

Alleging that the Delhi government is misleading women with an empty promise of a Rs 1,000 monthly allowance, the Delhi BJP President stated that the AAP has not delivered the women's allowance in Punjab for the past two years.

He accused the AAP and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of being experts in deceiving women. “Kejriwal, aiming to secure votes from women, initially promised a monthly allowance in Punjab and is now attempting the same in Delhi,” Sachdeva remarked.

His comments followed a day after Delhi Chief Minister Atishi asserted that registration for the Mukhya Mantri Mahila Samman Rashi would commence within a week and expressed optimism that impoverished women in Delhi would receive one or two installments of Rs 1,000 a month by March 31.

Sachdeva mentioned that he wrote to Punjab CM Mann, drawing attention to the five guarantees presented by the AAP to the citizens of Punjab prior to the February 2022 Assembly elections.

A key commitment among these guarantees was a monthly allowance of Rs 1,000 for all women. “At that time, Mann also held the position of Punjab AAP President,” Sachdeva noted.

In his correspondence, Sachdeva emphasized that based on these guarantees, particularly the monthly allowance for women, the electorate of Punjab, especially women, overwhelmingly supported the AAP, leading to the government’s establishment in February 2022.
