Karnataka BJP Accuses Congress of Favoring Political Gains Over National Security
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, March 3 (NationPress) BJP MLC C.T. Ravi criticized the Congress party on Tuesday, asserting that it prioritizes political gains over national interests. He condemned their position on matters of national security and foreign policy.
He emphasized that India, as a sovereign state, makes decisions rooted in its national interest and responsive to the circumstances at hand.
Ravi remarked that the policy of non-alignment was a temporary strategy employed in a unique historical context, affirming that India makes essential decisions regarding national security based on its strategic imperatives.
“For the Congress, it seems political advantage outweighs national concerns,” he stated.
He further claimed that the Congress is primarily focused on maintaining its vote bank.
In contrast, he emphasized that the BJP does not follow such a practice and believes that national issues should not be viewed through the lens of party or community affiliations.
Ravi expressed optimism that clarity would emerge following March 4, noting that two flights from Abu Dhabi and Dubai had already landed in Bengaluru and that the situation was slowly returning to normal.
According to him, the Ministry of External Affairs had urged against panic and provided the contact details of consulate offices for help.
He reiterated that India had previously facilitated the evacuation of its citizens from areas like Syria and various parts of Africa, assuring that there was no cause for alarm.
Addressing allegations regarding surveillance and phone tapping, Ravi pointed out that a former Chief Minister and the Leader of the Opposition had made such accusations, implying that they might possess some evidence to support their claims.
He suggested that monitoring the phones of legislators could be a way to grasp their intentions and could be perceived as a measure to protect the government and its leadership.
He also raised questions about the measures being taken to gauge public sentiment.
These comments come amid a political dispute in Karnataka concerning accusations of phone tapping and discord within the ruling party.
