Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Kolkata, March 23 (NationPress) The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up to present its manifesto this week for the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal scheduled for next month. During this period, the party's national president, Nitin Nabin, will be visiting the state for two days on March 24 and 25.
A senior member from the BJP’s West Bengal state committee mentioned that the manifesto, referred to as the “Sankalp Patra”, is expected to be launched on March 28. The state unit aims to invite Union Home Minister Amit Shah to West Bengal for a significant event to unveil it.
“At a recent ‘Parivartan Yatra’ event in Raidighi, South 24 Parganas district, Union Home Minister Shah emphasized the initiatives the BJP plans to implement if elected in West Bengal. Our manifesto has been crafted based on these commitments and includes public suggestions gathered during its development. Therefore, we aspire for the Union Home Minister to unveil it in a grand ceremony in Kolkata on March 28,” stated the state committee member.
He further added that the schedule for the Union Home Minister’s visit to West Bengal is still pending confirmation.
“We expect to receive written confirmation from his ministry soon. However, it has been tentatively arranged for him to visit West Bengal on March 27 and 28, which aligns with our plans for the manifesto release on March 29,” the state committee member explained.
Additionally, he noted that prior to the manifesto's release, the state committee will finalize its contents in collaboration with Nitin Nabin, who will also engage in various organizational meetings in Kolkata, focusing on discussions with the core BJP leadership in the state. “The discussions will revolve around the upcoming two-phase Assembly elections in West Bengal next month,” said the party's state committee member.
The Trinamool Congress has already unveiled its election manifesto on March 20, presenting a 10-point promise for West Bengal's development across various sectors. It remains unclear when the CPI(M)-led Left Front and Congress will disclose their manifestos.
