Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Quetta, March 6 (NationPress) The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has taken responsibility for a deadly armed assault in Khuzdar district of Balochistan, which resulted in the deaths of three Pakistani soldiers and left several others injured. Reports from local media indicate that the group briefly seized control of Karkh town while targeting numerous government facilities during their operation.
In a press release, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch detailed that the operation unfolded on March 4 and involved a well-coordinated attack by the group’s combatants.
The statement outlined how the armed faction surrounded Karkh from multiple fronts, effectively blocking access to and from the town.
According to the spokesperson, BLF fighters initiated their assault on a police checkpoint located at Moola Cross along the Khuzdar–Ratto Dero segment of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) route, where they seized firearms and equipment before setting the facility ablaze, as reported by The Balochistan Post.
Additionally, the spokesperson mentioned that the fighters advanced into Karkh, taking control of various government structures, including a police station, a National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) office, a bank, and the office of the Deputy Commissioner. They destroyed records and state symbols within these buildings and confiscated weapons.
The BLF reported that its fighters conducted inspections during the roadblocks in the area, apprehending several individuals, including a police sub-inspector named Anwar Ali from the Brahmanabad region in Pakistan’s Sindh province. The group stated that the detainees were released after interrogation, while an injured police officer was reportedly taken to a medical facility.
During the course of the operation, two vehicles transporting marble were reported damaged, which the BLF described as a misuse of local resources.
The group further claimed that Pakistani security forces attempted to advance into the area, resorting to mortar fire from a distance. This led to clashes near Moola Cross, resulting in the death of three Pakistani soldiers and injuries to several others.
After concluding their operation, the BLF stated that their fighters departed the town later that evening.
This incident occurs amid a surge in attacks by Baloch militant outfits against Pakistani military and police forces throughout Balochistan in recent days, causing significant casualties and infrastructure damage.
