Hyderabad, March 14 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLC, Pochampally Srinivas Reddy, on Friday appeared before the police regarding the rooster-fight betting case linked to his farmhouse located in Moinabad within Rangareddy district. The MLC complied with a notice issued by the Cyberabad police.

On February 11, law enforcement officials, including the Special Operations Team (SOT) and Moinabad police, conducted a raid at the MLC’s farmhouse in Tolkatta village and apprehended individuals engaged in betting on rooster fights. A total of 64 individuals were taken into custody.

During the operation, authorities seized 84 roosters, 46 knives used for the fights, 46 betting coins, 55 vehicles, and 64 mobile phones.

A legal case was initiated under Sections 3 and 4 of the TS Gaming Act and Section 11 of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act at the Moinabad Police Station. However, Srinivas Reddy has refuted any claims of his involvement in these unlawful activities.

He asserted that the 10-acre property, which includes mango and coconut groves along with two rooms, is being managed by his nephew Gyandev Reddy, and that the garden area has been leased to another party without his consent.

Last month, the police issued a notice under Section 35 of the BNSS, requesting an explanation and relevant documentation from him.

In his response, the MLC highlighted that he acquired the property in 2018, but it has been overseen by his nephew, Gnanadev Reddy.

“Unbeknownst to me, Gnanadev Reddy leased the property to Varra Ramesh Kumar, who subsequently assigned it to Venkatapathi Raju. I am not involved in any illegal activities. I have filed a complaint with the police demanding action against those accountable,” he stated in his clarification.

The MLC provided the police with the leasing documents. As the police expressed doubts regarding these documents, Srinivas Reddy received a further notice instructing him to meet with the investigating officer at the earliest opportunity.
