Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy Refutes Government Interference in Moinabad Drug Case

Hyderabad, March 18 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Telangana, A. Revanth Reddy, stated on Wednesday that there has been no government interference in the Moinabad farmhouse drug case. He confirmed that Eluru MP from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Putta Mahesh Kumar, was granted station bail following the established legal procedures.
While speaking informally with reporters in Delhi, he was questioned about his potential influence over the TDP MP's bail release.
He also mentioned the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to delve deeper into the matter.
On Tuesday, the Telangana Director General of Police established a nine-member SIT to investigate the case involving the arrests of TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy, and several others on charges of alleged drug consumption.
The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, in collaboration with local police, conducted a raid at a farmhouse owned by BRS member Rohith Reddy in Moinabad, near Hyderabad, on the night of March 14.
During the operation, eleven individuals, including a woman, were detained, with six—including Rohith Reddy and Putta Mahesh—testing positive for drugs.
Putta Mahesh, along with seven other individuals, was released on station bail the following day.
Rohith Reddy, his sibling Ritesh Reddy, and businessman Namith Sharma from Delhi were presented before a court, which then placed them in judicial custody.
In response to another media inquiry, the Chief Minister predicted that the upcoming Assembly elections in Telangana are likely to occur in 2029 rather than 2028.
He expressed support for the prompt implementation of women’s reservations in both Parliament and the state legislature.
Previously, the Chief Minister, along with state Congress president Mahesh Kumar Goud and party MPs, met with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi in Parliament.
Revanth Reddy introduced his close associate Vem Narender Reddy, who was recently elected to the Rajya Sabha, to Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi.
They also had a discussion with AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday night, where Kharge congratulated Narender Reddy after the introduction.
The Chief Minister and TPCC president engaged in discussions regarding political developments with Kharge.
Earlier, they also met AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal.
