Hyderabad, March 17 (NationPress) The Telangana Police have established a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the Moinabad farmhouse drug case, involving TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, former BRS MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy, and others who were detained for alleged drug consumption.
This nine-member SIT will operate under the guidance of Future City Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu.
On Tuesday, Director General of Police B. Shivdhar Reddy issued directives to form the SIT to look into violations of the NDPS and Arms Act.
The SIT is tasked with thoroughly examining the case and investigating all related aspects regarding the offence's commission.
They have been instructed to complete their investigation and submit a charge sheet within three months.
The SIT comprises members such as Yogesh Goutham, DCP of Chevella, M. Ravinder Reddy, Group Commander of Greyhounds, Ch. Sirisha, DCP of Shadnagar, and C. Harish Chandra Reddy and N. Buchaiah, both DSPs from the EAGLE Force.
The Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement (EAGLE) Force, in collaboration with the police, conducted a raid at Rohith Reddy's farmhouse in Moinabad near Hyderabad on the night of March 14.
During this operation, eleven individuals, including a woman, were apprehended, with six of them, including Rohith Reddy and TDP MP Putta Mahesh Kumar, testing positive for drugs.
Mahesh Kumar, representing Eluru in Andhra Pradesh, and seven others were granted police station bail on Sunday.
Rohith Reddy, along with his brother Ritesh Reddy and Namith Sharma, a businessman from Delhi, were presented before a court, which remanded them to judicial custody.
Police reports indicate that Namith Sharma allegedly fired a revolver during the raid; this licensed weapon belonged to Ritesh Reddy.
A .32 calibre revolver made in Germany, along with live and used cartridges, was confiscated from Sharma.
During the investigation, a total of 0.26 grams of cocaine was recovered from an accused named Sharath Kumar, who admitted to obtaining the drug from Kaushik Ravi.
Additionally, significant quantities of liquor, including beer, whisky, vodka, and other premium brands, were seized from the farmhouse.
A case has been registered at the Moinabad Police Station under multiple sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act, Telangana State Excise Act, and other related statutes.
