BRS MLA in Hyderabad Faces Charges for Allegedly Threatening Police Officer

Hyderabad, Dec 4 (NationPress) - Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was booked by the Hyderabad Police on Wednesday for allegedly threatening a police officer.

A case was filed against Kaushik Reddy and his supporters at Banjara Hills Police Station following a complaint from Circle Inspector Raghavendra.

The inspector claimed that the MLA from Huzurabad threatened him and attempted to interfere with his official duties.

This incident transpired when the MLA, accompanied by approximately 20 supporters, visited the Banjara Hills Police Station to report that his phone was being tapped.

As the MLA arrived at the station, Circle Inspector Raghavendra was exiting.

Kaushik Reddy demanded that the Station House Officer address his complaint before leaving. When the officer informed him that he had urgent matters to attend to and promised to take the complaint upon his return, the MLA expressed his frustration.

Reddy engaged in a heated exchange with the SHO, asserting that it was the officer's obligation to properly receive an MLA at the police station. He was overheard threatening the officer.

Supporters of the MLA obstructed the SHO's vehicle and shouted slogans. Eventually, the SHO returned to take the complaint from the MLA.

Following this, the police registered a case against Kaushik Reddy based on the SHO's complaint. The case includes allegations of unlawful assembly, obstructing a public servant in the performance of their duties, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance, and rioting against Kaushik Reddy and his associates.

In his own complaint, Kaushik Reddy alleged that his personal phone calls are being intercepted. He stated that he has strong reasons to suspect the involvement of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and IG Shivadhar Reddy in this unauthorized surveillance.

The MLA requested a comprehensive investigation into the issue and legal action against those responsible for the illegal phone tapping.

Kaushik Reddy also noted that when a complaint was filed against BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao, police action was taken, yet no such measures have been implemented regarding his complaint.
