BRS MLA Sparks Outrage at Official Gathering, Clashes with Defected MLA

Hyderabad, Jan 12 (NationPress) An official review session in the Karimnagar district of Telangana was thrown into chaos after BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy became embroiled in a dispute with Jagtial MLA Dr Sanjay Kumar, who had defected from the BRS to the Congress party the previous year.

While Sanjay Kumar was addressing the assembly focused on the progress of development projects in the united Karimnagar district, Kaushik Reddy interrupted to inquire about Kumar's party affiliation.

He insisted that Sanjay Kumar should refrain from speaking until he clarified his party stance.

This sparked a fierce exchange of words between the two.

Kaushik Reddy, representing the Huzurnagar constituency, approached Sanjay Kumar and attempted to seize the microphone from him. The confrontation escalated to the point where the two MLAs almost engaged in physical combat.

Other officials present at the meeting intervened in an attempt to calm the situation, but Kaushik Reddy remained unyielding. Ultimately, police had to step in and escort Kaushik Reddy out of the meeting to restore order.

The incident occurred in front of several ministers, including Ponnam Prabhakar, Sridhar Babu, and Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Afterward, Kaushik Reddy informed reporters that Sanjay Kumar ought to resign as MLA and run in the upcoming by-election.

The Congress party condemned Kaushik Reddy's behavior during the meeting.

Congress MLC Balmuri Venkat accused Kaushik Reddy of engaging in erratic behavior merely to gain media attention. The MLC asserted that the BRS had betrayed the Dalit community, claiming that BRS leaders misled the public by promising to elevate a Dalit to the Chief Minister position without providing necessary funding to the SC Corporation.

Meanwhile, BRS Working President K. T. Rama Rao directed criticism at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding defections. In a post on X, Rama Rao referenced two news articles concerning Congress. One article focused on Rahul Gandhi and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's anticipated involvement in the Samvidhan Bachao rally in Hyderabad, while the other highlighted a statement from Congress Telangana President B. Mahesh Kumar indicating that more BRS MLAs might defect to Congress following Sankranti.

"Samvidhan Bachao (Save the Constitution) Rally by RG in Hyderabad. PCC president states Congress will violate the same Constitution & include more BRS MLAs. What a remarkable method to safeguard the Constitution, Rahul Gandhi Ji,” Rama Rao sarcastically remarked.

Since December 2023, a total of ten BRS MLAs have defected to the Congress party.
