BRS MLA Faces Three Legal Cases for Disorderly Conduct at Karimnagar Meeting

Hyderabad, Jan 13 (NationPress) - Law enforcement in Karimnagar, Telangana, has initiated three separate legal cases against Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA P. Kaushik Reddy concerning the disturbances that arose during a District Review Committee (DRC) meeting on Sunday.
These cases, filed at the One Town Police Station in Karimnagar, stem from Reddy's disruptive behavior towards Jagitial MLA M. Sanjay Kumar during the DRC proceedings.
The police action was based on a complaint from Sanjay's Personal Assistant.
Additionally, a complaint from the Revenue Divisional Officer (DRO) led to another case being registered against Kaushik Reddy for inciting chaos.
A third case was lodged based on allegations from Sathu Mallesham, the chairman of Zilla Grandalaya Samastha, who claimed that the MLA was disrespectful towards him during the DRC meeting.
During the meeting, Kaushik Reddy had a heated exchange with Sanjay Kumar, attempting to interrupt his speech. The situation escalated when Reddy moved towards Sanjay, questioning his party affiliation.
Reddy criticized Sanjay for switching allegiance to the ruling Congress party after winning on a BRS ticket in the 2023 Assembly elections.
The confrontation peaked when Kaushik Reddy tried to grab the microphone from Sanjay, resulting in a fierce argument. The two MLAs nearly came to blows, causing significant disorder in the meeting, which was attended by Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu, and Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Police had to step in and escort Kaushik Reddy out of the meeting venue.
Later, Reddy remarked to the media that Sanjay should resign from his MLA position and participate in a by-election.
In response, Sanjay stated that he would resign only if BRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao and other leaders who had joined BRS from different parties also stepped down.
It is noteworthy that Kaushik Reddy switched from the Congress party to join the TRS (now BRS) in 2021.
