BRS Legislator Kaushik Reddy Detained for Threatening Law Enforcement Official

Hyderabad, Dec 5 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy was detained by Hyderabad Police on Thursday amid a scene of chaos at his residence.

Kaushik Reddy, who faced charges on Wednesday for allegedly threatening the Station House Officer at Banjara Hills Police Station, was taken into custody from his home in Kondapur. He was subsequently transported to the police station.

Tensions escalated as BRS leaders and supporters protested outside the MLA's residence following his arrest. Senior BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao, along with other officials, were detained while attempting to visit Kaushik Reddy's home.

Harish Rao, K. Prabhakar Rao, and Shambipur Raju were taken to Gachibowli Police Station, while another party figure and former minister Jagadish Reddy was transported to Raidurgam Police Station.

Police arrived at Kaushik Reddy's residence early in the day. As the news of his upcoming detention spread, multiple BRS leaders attempted to gather there in solidarity.

A case against Kaushik Reddy and his supporters was filed at Banjara Hills Police Station based on a complaint from Circle Inspector Raghavendra.

The inspector accused the MLA from Huzurabad of threatening him and attempting to hinder his official duties.

This incident transpired when the MLA, accompanied by approximately 20 supporters, went to Banjara Hills Police Station to report that his phone was being tapped. As the MLA arrived at the station, Circle Inspector Raghavendra was exiting.

Kaushik Reddy demanded that the SHO take his complaint before leaving. When the officer indicated he was heading out for an urgent matter and would accept the complaint upon his return, the MLA expressed his frustration.

Kaushik Reddy engaged in a heated discussion with the SHO, asserting that an MLA should be properly received at the police station. He was overheard issuing threats towards the officer.

The MLA's supporters obstructed the SHO's vehicle and shouted slogans. The SHO returned to the station and accepted the complaint from the MLA.

Subsequently, law enforcement filed a case against Kaushik Reddy based on the SHO's complaint. The charges include unlawful assembly, using force to obstruct a public servant's duties, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance, and rioting involving Kaushik Reddy and others.
