Hyderabad, Jan 15 (NationPress) On Wednesday, the Hyderabad police issued a notice to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, linked to a case filed against him last month for allegedly threatening a police officer.
The representative from Huzurabad has been summoned to report to Masab Tank police on Thursday.
Nevertheless, Kaushik Reddy informed law enforcement that he has court proceedings in Karimnagar regarding another matter, stating he would attend the police station on January 17.
This marks the second notice issued to Kaushik Reddy.
Previously, he was arrested on December 5 for allegedly threatening the Station House Officer at Banjara Hills Police Station, but he secured bail the same day.
A complaint from Circle Inspector/SHO Raghavendra prompted the case against Kaushik Reddy and his followers, claiming the MLA threatened him and hindered his official duties.
The incident transpired when the MLA, accompanied by approximately 20 supporters, visited Banjara Hills Police Station to report that his phone was being monitored.
As the MLA approached the station, the Circle Inspector was exiting, but Kaushik Reddy insisted he remain until his complaint was heard.
When the officer indicated he needed to attend to urgent matters and would address the complaint later, the MLA expressed his displeasure. Kaushik Reddy engaged in a heated discussion, asserting that it was the SHO's responsibility to properly address an MLA's presence at the station. He was overheard making threats to the police officer.
The MLA's supporters obstructed the police vehicle and chanted slogans. The SHO ultimately returned and accepted the MLA's complaint. Following this, the police filed a case against Kaushik Reddy based on the SHO's allegations.
The charges against Kaushik Reddy and his associates include unlawful assembly, obstructing a public servant in performance of their duties, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance, and rioting.
On January 13, Kaushik Reddy was apprehended by Karimnagar police for causing disruption and allegedly misbehaving with Jagtial MLA M. Sanjay Kumar during a District Review Committee (DRC) meeting in Karimnagar on January 12.
A team from Karimnagar police arrested him in Hyderabad as he was returning home after attending a television program. The Huzurabad MLA was then taken to Karimnagar and presented to a court the following day, where he was granted conditional bail. Three separate cases were filed against Kaushik Reddy at Karimnagar One Town Police Station for his unruly conduct during the DRC meeting.
