Notice Issued to BRS MLA by Hyderabad Police in Police Intimidation Case

Hyderabad, December 25 (NationPress) - The police in Hyderabad delivered a notice on Wednesday to Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy concerning a case that was filed against him earlier this month for allegedly threatening a police officer. The MLA representing Huzurabad has been instructed to present himself at the Masab Tank police on Friday.
This notice follows a directive from the Telangana High Court issued one week prior, instructing the police to return the mobile device of the MLA, which had been seized from him on December 5.
Justice B. Vijaysen Reddy had mandated that the Station House Officer of Masab Tank police station issue this notice in accordance with the legal seizure protocol.
The BRS MLA claimed in his complaint that the case against him and the confiscation of his mobile phone were solely intended to harass him.
The public prosecutor informed the court that the device had been sent for analysis to the Forensic Science Laboratory due to allegations from the petitioner regarding a conspiracy against the government.
Furthermore, the court was made aware that the petitioner and his associates had acted disruptively within the police station, obstructing officers in their duties, which led to the confiscation of his mobile phone.
Kaushik Reddy was detained on December 5 for allegedly threatening the Station House Officer at the Banjara Hills Police Station. He was released on bail the same day.
A complaint against Kaushik Reddy and his followers was filed by Circle Inspector Raghavendra, who claimed that the MLA threatened him and attempted to hinder his official duties.
This incident transpired when the MLA, accompanied by approximately 20 supporters, visited the Banjara Hills Police Station to report that his phone was being tapped. As he was arriving, the Circle Inspector was exiting the station, and Kaushik Reddy insisted that he should be attended to immediately. When the officer explained that he had urgent matters to attend to, the MLA expressed his displeasure.
A heated exchange ensued, during which the MLA asserted that it was the responsibility of the SHO to properly address an MLA's visit to the police station, during which he was overheard making threats against the officer.
The MLA's supporters obstructed the SHO's vehicle and shouted slogans. Eventually, the SHO returned and accepted the MLA's complaint.
Subsequently, the police filed charges against Kaushik Reddy based on the SHO's complaint. The registered case accuses Kaushik Reddy and others of multiple offenses, including unlawful assembly, using force to obstruct the duties of a public servant, criminal intimidation, wrongful restraint, public nuisance, and rioting.
