Hyderabad, Nov 14 (NationPress) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao emphasized on Friday that even after the setback in the Jubilee Hills byelection, the party remains committed to its role as the primary opposition and will intensify its efforts to regain power.

“Our true honor lies not in avoiding failure, but in rising stronger each time we stumble. We are determined to reclaim our state. I appreciate everyone's unwavering support and affection since this morning,” Rama Rao shared on X.

The Congress party secured the Jubilee Hills seat from BRS, with their candidate Naveen Yadav defeating BRS's Maganti Sunitha by a margin of nearly 25,000 votes.

Previously, during a press conference at BRS headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, he stated that the party would not be disheartened by the results.

“We will persist in our duties as the primary opposition. Our commitment is to the people. We will remain in close contact with the populace. Our struggle will continue until KCR returns as Chief Minister,” he asserted.

KTR remarked that for the past two years, BRS has focused on addressing public concerns and will persist in its opposition role.

He noted that although the BRS candidate lacked political experience, the party's dedicated members put in significant effort to secure a victory.

Claiming that the byelection has infused new vigor into the BRS, he stated that the public has shown a clear preference for BRS as the viable political alternative.

“Our party conducted itself with integrity and sincerity during the elections. Everyone witnessed the election process,” he stated, highlighting that various surveys had forecasted a BRS victory.

The BRS leader recalled that between 2014 and 2023, seven byelections were held, during which the then-opposition party, Congress, failed to win any.

He mentioned that BRS worked diligently to expose the failures of the Congress government, the execution of six guarantees, and the “deceit” inflicted upon the public.

“Our campaign did not involve politics based on caste or religion. We focused on discussing issues that matter to the people. Despite the derogatory language from those in power, we maintained our composure,” he noted.

KTR affirmed that BRS showcased the advancements made during its decade-long administration, detailing the developmental projects undertaken in the constituency amounting to Rs 5,300 crore.

He claimed that the pressure exerted by BRS compelled the Chief Minister and the state government to reassess the implementation of guarantees.

He pointed out that it was only after BRS raised concerns about the lack of minority representation in the Cabinet that the Congress government appointed Mohammed Azharuddin to the Cabinet during the election campaign.
