BRS Unveils 'Chargesheet' Criticizing One Year of Congress Governance in Telangana

Hyderabad, Dec 8 (NationPress) The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Sunday unveiled a 'chargesheet' targeting the Congress administration in Telangana as it reached the one-year milestone, accusing the government of failing on multiple fronts.

The leading opposition party claimed that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has regressed the state due to his negative approach.

While presenting the chargesheet, BRS leader and former minister T. Harish Rao asserted that the Congress has not fulfilled the six guarantees or other election commitments.

Referencing the removal of iron barricades in front of Pragati Bhavan, the former Chief Minister's official residence, Harish Rao remarked that the government initiated its term with demolition and a negative stance, leading to equally negative outcomes.

Harish Rao accused the Revanth Reddy government of dodging its election commitments by issuing so-called 'white papers'.

He stated that all segments of society, from schoolchildren to pensioners, are suffering under Congress leadership.

Harish Rao emphasized that Telangana's growth has diminished due to the Chief Minister's adverse outlook.

Criticizing the government for celebrating one year in office, the BRS leader questioned what there was to celebrate.

He alleged that the government has harmed the state's reputation with misleading claims of bankruptcy.

Claiming that the agriculture sector thrived during the BRS's 10-year governance, he noted that farmers have faced distress since Congress took charge.

The former minister pointed out that the government has not fully implemented the loan waiver scheme for farmers and has halted the Rythu Bandhu scheme, which provided investment aid to farmers.

Harish Rao remarked that tenant farmers and agricultural workers are still awaiting the government's promise fulfillment.

Accusing the government of failing women, he questioned the status of the commitments of Rs 2,500 monthly for women and one tola of gold for the marriages of underprivileged girls.

Furthermore, Harish Rao contended that the Congress deceived the youth by not delivering on the promise of two lakh jobs in the first year.

“The pledge of Rs. 4,000 for unemployment benefits was also misleading,” he added.

Stressing that public trust in government schools and residential institutions is waning, Harish Rao noted that these institutions have gained notoriety for incidents of food poisoning, dog bites, snake bites, and electrocution.

The chargesheet stated that 49 students succumbed to food contamination, and another 906 fell ill within a year.

The opposition party also criticized the Congress government for demolishing the homes of the impoverished under the guise of the HYDRAA and the Musi Rejuvenation project.

“The government has adopted unconstitutional measures, trampling on humanity and justice,” Harish Rao stated.

The chargesheet also highlighted the alleged forcible acquisition of land from tribal communities for a pharmaceutical cluster in the Chief Minister's constituency, Kodangal.

“There is a lack of peace and security in the state. In fact, there is no home minister in the state,” the chargesheet claims.

The BRS also accused the government of undermining democracy over the past year, citing restrictions on the right to protest, illegal arrests, detentions, and censorship.
