Bunty Khan, brother of absconding gangster Prince Khan, was arrested by Dhanbad Police at Kolkata Airport on 14 September 2026 with the assistance of West Bengal Police, moments before he could board an international flight to Dubai using allegedly forged documents, officials confirmed. The joint operation is being described by investigators as a major breakthrough in the crackdown against the Prince Khan gang, one of Dhanbad's most wanted criminal syndicates.

How the Arrest Unfolded

Intelligence inputs indicated that Bunty Khan had been hiding in Kolkata and was planning to escape to Dubai via an international flight. Acting on the tip-off, Dhanbad Police formed a special team and coordinated closely with West Bengal Police to track his movements in the city. The joint operation culminated in his apprehension at the airport's departure zone before he could board.

Following his arrest, police paraded Bunty Khan through Dhanbad with a rope tied around his waist — a practice used by local authorities to signal a high-profile catch and deter others in the network.

What Police Recovered

During the operation, investigators recovered a passport along with what are described as suspected forged passports, visa-related papers, and other travel documents from Bunty Khan's possession. Investigators are now examining the seized documents to determine their authenticity and to trace the network that allegedly helped him obtain the forged papers.

Authorities are also working to identify individuals who may have assisted him in planning the escape, including associates and those who provided shelter during his period of absconding.

A few months ago, police arrested another alleged key operative of the syndicate, identified as Major alias Saifi, also at Kolkata Airport while he too was reportedly attempting to flee to Dubai. The pattern suggests an established exit route used by the gang.

According to police officials, Bunty Khan's interrogation is expected to yield crucial leads about the gang's extortion network, financial transactions, and activities allegedly being coordinated from abroad. Raids are currently underway to trace and arrest other accused linked to the criminal syndicate.

Meanwhile, the gang's alleged kingpin, Prince Khan, remains at large and is wanted in several serious criminal cases including murder, extortion, firing, and criminal intimidation. A Red Corner Notice has already been issued against him. While he was earlier believed to be hiding in Dubai, intelligence agencies have reportedly received fresh inputs suggesting he may now be in Pakistan.
