Liverpool, June 29 (NationPress) Dominic Calvert-Lewin has officially announced that he will part ways with Everton when his current contract expires on July 1, becoming a free agent. The English forward joined the Toffees from Sheffield United in 2016, accumulating an impressive total of 71 goals in 274 first-team matches.
“After nine extraordinary years at this club, I have made the incredibly tough decision—with my family's support—to start a new chapter in my career. This has not been an easy choice. Everton has been my home since I was just 19 years old.
“This is the place that recognized my potential, pushed me to evolve, and molded me into the footballer and person I am today. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to all the managers and coaches I've had the privilege to work with, as well as my teammates who have become lifelong friends,” he shared on Instagram.
Calvert-Lewin has earned 11 caps for the England national team and was a prolific scorer until injuries disrupted his career. Once a highly coveted player, attracting interest from clubs such as Newcastle and Arsenal, a broken toe during the 2021-22 season sidelined him for 126 days. The subsequent season saw him endure three separate hamstring injuries, totaling 162 days on the sidelines.
After netting 16 goals in the league during the 2020/21 season, the Englishman could only muster a total of 15 goals over the next four seasons.
“I take immense pride in what we've accomplished together, battling for this club when it mattered most, scoring important goals in critical moments, and wearing the shirt with unwavering commitment and pride.
“I hope to leave with your respect, knowing I always strived to uphold the values of this great club. Thank you for everything. From day one, I understood the significance of playing for Everton,” the striker concluded.
