Mussoorie, June 8 (NationPress) – Two individuals suffered significant injuries after their vehicle fell into a deep ravine near Kolukhet Pani Wala Band along the Mussoorie-Dehradun road in Uttarakhand early on Sunday morning. The incident transpired when the car reportedly lost control at a curve and plunged into the gorge.
Upon receiving alerts about the accident, the Mussoorie Police, under the leadership of Sub-Inspector Pankaj Singh Mahipal, along with members of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and a 108 ambulance service, swiftly arrived at the scene.
With the help of local residents, the rescue team successfully retrieved the two injured men from the gorge.
The victims were identified as Naitik Raj, 32, from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, and Anurag Chaudhary, 31, from Dehradun. Both were quickly transported to a premier medical facility in Dehradun for treatment using a 108 ambulance.
Sub-Inspector Pankaj Singh Mahipal confirmed that initial investigations suggest the car unexpectedly lost control while navigating a turn.
“The incident took place in the morning. We have notified the families of the injured individuals. A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the cause,” he stated.
This accident adds to the alarming trend of road incidents in Uttarakhand, especially in mountainous regions.
On May 27, a devastating event in the Tehri Garhwal district resulted in the deaths of four elderly people when their vehicle veered off-course and fell roughly 50 meters into a gorge.
The victims had traveled from Malgad to Badiyar Garh for a religious ceremony and were returning home when the driver lost control on a sharp, narrow curve.
Local residents promptly alerted the authorities, and teams from the Tehsil administration and SDRF conducted a rescue operation, recovering the bodies and transporting them to the base hospital in Srinagar.
