New Delhi, Nov 25 (NationPress) Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal stated on Tuesday that to enhance India’s economy and generate more job opportunities, it is essential to increase exports. He stressed the importance of a robust partnership between the Central Government and the States to facilitate the growth and diversification of exports.
During the fourth gathering of the restructured Board of Trade (BoT) in New Delhi, Goyal pointed out the Indian economy's resilience amidst global fluctuations and reiterated the Government’s dedication to advancing export growth.
He mentioned that the Export Promotion Mission would introduce specialized schemes aimed at helping landlocked States improve their export competitiveness.
Based on feedback from various States, the Ministry of Commerce plans to collaborate with relevant agencies to identify effective and timely solutions to emerging challenges.
Goyal remarked that India’s international reputation as a dependable exporter relies on maintaining the highest quality standards for every product and shipment. A key milestone has been the swift scaling of the Trade Connect ePlatform, launched in September 2024, which now consolidates services from Indian Missions, the Department of Commerce, DGFT, Export Promotion Councils, Exim Bank, and additional partners.
With over 62 lakh visits to the platform, more than 18 lakh registered users, multilingual support, digital consolidation of Certificates of Origin (over 22 lakh issued), and extensive assistance for MSMEs through market intelligence and product-compliance tools, the platform is evolving into a comprehensive digital gateway for exporters.
Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal emphasized the necessity of enhancing last-mile connectivity between exporters and government support systems. He underscored the Ministry’s commitment to expanding digital public infrastructure for trade, ensuring swift resolution of trade-related issues, and improving inter-agency collaboration to boost India’s export competitiveness.
