Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Raipur, Feb 4 (NationPress) The Chhattisgarh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, has given the green light to several pivotal initiatives aimed at bolstering law enforcement against drug abuse and terrorism. The Cabinet's focus also includes enhancing digital governance, promoting aviation training, and fostering the startup ecosystem.
In a decisive move to tackle the escalating issue of narcotics, the state Cabinet approved the formation of district-level Anti-Narcotics Task Forces in ten districts: Raipur, Mahasamund, Bilaspur, Durg, Bastar, Surguja, Kabirdham, Jashpur, Rajnandgaon, and Korba.
To facilitate this, 100 new positions were authorized under the main budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, enabling specialized teams to intensify efforts against illegal drugs, especially in high-risk areas.
Additionally, the Cabinet sanctioned 44 new posts to establish a Special Operations Group within the Special Branch of the Police Headquarters. This elite unit will enable rapid responses during emergencies, such as terrorist attacks or serious threats, effectively managing and neutralizing risks to bolster public safety.
The Cabinet also approved guidelines for the establishment of Flight Training Organisations at various airports and airstrips in the state through private collaboration. This initiative aims to provide local pilot training facilities, meet the increasing demand in the aviation sector, create job opportunities for youth, and promote related developments like aircraft recycling and aero sports.
Furthermore, the Chhattisgarh Innovation and Startup Promotion Policy 2025-26 received approval, aimed at nurturing the startup ecosystem, supporting incubators, and positioning Chhattisgarh as a leading innovation hub nationally, thus boosting the state's national startup index ranking to attract more investments.
In urban development, the Cabinet decided to transfer 35 completed residential colonies developed by the Chhattisgarh Housing Board and Raipur Development Authority to the respective municipal corporations and municipalities. These colonies will include open plots, parks, and public amenities, excluding any saleable residential, commercial, or semi-public properties.
Other resolutions included empowering the Naya Raipur Atal Nagar Development Authority to construct a multi-storey building for government departments and corporations to optimize land use, delegating land allocation powers in Sirpur and Arpa regions to District Collectors for a nominal fee to accelerate planned riverine development, and implementing the Chhattisgarh Cloud First Policy. This policy will mandate state departments to use only approved Indian cloud providers or secure domestic data centers, with phased migrations scheduled for completion by 2029-30, while fostering new applications cloud-natively to reduce costs and enhance cybersecurity.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a Mobile Tower Scheme to expand digital connectivity, particularly addressing geographical challenges and regions affected by left-wing extremism.
