Srinagar, Dec 11 (NationPress) A Chinese national was swiftly escorted on an emergency exit after his visit to Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh breached the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) directives, according to police reports released on Thursday.
Authorities stated that the individual, identified as Hu Congtai, was repatriated on Wednesday due to his violation of FRRO regulations.
Hu Congtai, a 29-year-old from China, was deported from Srinagar Airport after being blacklisted for disregarding the FRRO guidelines, as indicated by police.
A graduate in Physics from Boston University (USA), he was apprehended at a budget homestay located in Friends Colony within the Budgam district three days prior to his deportation.
Investigations revealed that his visa was not authorized for entry into the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
According to police, his visa permitted access only to Varanasi, Agra, New Delhi, Jaipur, Sarnath, Gaya, and Kushinagar.
Despite this, he unlawfully entered Jammu and Kashmir, police confirmed.
Local police became aware of this situation, leading to his return from Srinagar to Delhi following a preliminary investigation.
Hu Congtai arrived in Srinagar on December 1 and was subsequently sent back to Delhi via an Air India Express flight on Wednesday.
During his stay, Hu was interrogated at the Humhama Police Station for two days. His mobile phone's digital log, which included an Indian SIM card, raised suspicion among security agencies.
Hu informed the authorities that he had thoroughly researched Kashmir and Ladakh prior to his journey and had even watched films such as Article 370. During his time in Kashmir, he visited Shankaracharya hills, Hazratbal shrine, Mughal Gardens, Harwan Buddhist site, and the ruins at Awantipora in South Kashmir.
His actions first attracted attention when he traveled to the Zanskar valley of Ladakh on November 25, breaching his limited visa restrictions. In Ladakh, which borders China, he resided in the beautiful Zangla, a traditional trekking route into Himachal Pradesh.
