Quetta, Nov 10 (NationPress) At least two Baloch civilians have been forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in Balochistan, amidst an escalating trend of enforced disappearances across the region, as reported by leading human rights organizations on Monday.

The Baloch National Movement's Human Rights Department, known as Paank, has condemned the abduction of Amjid Baloch, a resident of Zarin Bugh Dasht in Kech district. The rights group claims that on November 1, Amjid was forcibly taken by Pakistani intelligence agents at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.

“His family reports that Amjid, a laborer returning from the United Arab Emirates, was seized by men in plain clothes, believed to be associated with Pakistani intelligence, shortly after his arrival. Since that moment, his location has remained unknown, and his relatives have not received any updates regarding his condition or detention,” stated Paank.

Additionally, the Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) highlighted that Hakeem Sharif, another resident of Dasht Zarin Bugh in Balochistan, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces in the Gwadar district a week prior and remains unaccounted for.

According to family sources, Hakeem was detained without any legal basis, and his current status is still unknown.

“This incident has brought immense distress to his family, who are anxious about his safety and well-being,” the BVJ noted.

In a separate report detailing human rights violations in Balochistan, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) disclosed on Sunday that a 15-year-old boy, Naseem Baloch, was extrajudicially murdered by state-backed death squads in Kech district.

The BYC stated that Naseem was abducted from his home on November 8 by a state-supported death squad, with his body discovered the following morning in a remote area of Hoshap in Kech.

Local sources indicate that Naseem had faced repeated harassment and was summoned multiple times to the military cantonment in Hoshap. Before his abduction and subsequent death, Naseem worked as a laborer, struggling to support his family.

“The case of Naseem Baloch exemplifies a troubling trend in Balochistan, where enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings are conducted with total impunity under state oversight. His tragic death highlights the escalating human rights crisis in the region, where both children and civilians are consistently subjected to abduction, torture, and execution. Despite ongoing calls for justice, the families of victims remain unheard, oppressed by systemic repression and fear,” the BYC remarked.

Point of View

It is crucial to recognize the alarming rate of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. The stories of Amjid and Hakeem reflect a broader systemic issue that demands our attention. We stand with the families of victims in their quest for justice and urge for accountability in addressing these human rights violations.
