What Vision for a Developed and Clean Delhi Did CM Rekha Gupta Present in Her Maiden I-Day Speech?

New Delhi, Aug 15 (NationPress) In her inaugural Independence Day address, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled her ambitious vision for green development and welfare initiatives aimed at women, students, laborers, slum residents, and the elderly.

During the 79th Independence Day celebration, she proudly hoisted the National Flag at Chhatrasal Stadium, emphasizing crucial projects in infrastructure, housing, education, sports, youth welfare, and healthcare.

She made a strong commitment to eliminate garbage, pollution, corruption, disorder, and a subservient mindset from Delhi.

Despite the rain, a large crowd of citizens, children, and armed forces members filled with patriotic spirit gathered to witness this significant occasion.

The event was enhanced by patriotic songs, cultural performances, and spirited slogans celebrating the Tricolour, creating an atmosphere rich in national pride.

In her speech, the Chief Minister reaffirmed her determination to expedite Delhi’s development and deliver various public welfare programs.

CM Gupta opened her address by honoring the great leaders of the freedom struggle, the courageous martyrs, and the soldiers safeguarding the country.

She stated: “Whether in the bone-chilling cold of Siachen, the sweltering heat of Rajasthan, or under torrential rains, our security forces tirelessly protect the nation. I also pay my respects to the valorous soldiers of Operation Sindoor, who delivered a strong response to terrorism while upholding the dignity and self-respect of 1.4 billion Indians.”

She reiterated the commitment to cleansing the Yamuna River, viewing it as a vital step towards revitalizing the essence of Delhi.

“As the national capital, Delhi warrants the highest standards of infrastructure and arrangements. Governments have come and gone for years, but now is the moment to position Delhi among the premier cities of the nation,” she declared.

Highlighting infrastructure achievements, CM Gupta noted that with the Central government's assistance, nearly 400 km of Metro lines have been established, serving 5 million passengers daily.

Reinforcing her promise to provide dignified housing for slum residents, she stated: “The government is dedicated to offering every slum dweller not just a home but also a secure life, a bright future for their children, and essential amenities, in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.”

She further announced a landmark achievement in education with the introduction of the Delhi School Education Transparency and Regulation law, designed to protect parents from financial exploitation.

CM Gupta emphasized that sports had previously lacked adequate focus in Delhi, but for the first time, the Delhi Government has established awards and sports honors exceeding those of any other state in the country. Athletes participating at national and Olympic levels will not only receive awards worth crores but will also benefit from job security.

Additionally, the Delhi Government will launch anti-drug clubs, provide startup support, and implement other initiatives to ensure the secure and prosperous future of the youth, she added.

In healthcare, CM Gupta revealed plans to establish 1,100 Arogya Mandirs (wellness centers), of which 166 have already been completed.

This month, five major hospital expansion projects will be inaugurated, adding 1,300 new beds, modern outpatient departments, and advanced medical equipment. Moreover, 28 hospitals have appointed new medical superintendents, and 1,500 nurses have secured permanent positions, she noted.

She also reminded attendees that the victims of the 1984 Sikh riots and displaced Kashmiri families, who have long awaited compensation, have finally received justice from the Delhi government.
